(Art heals). I see it, I feel it, I live it and see it working in people’s lives. As an Art Psychotherapist I aim to use my talents and traininng  to make a difference in the world.

What are the benefits from having art therapy?

Art Therapy can be used to facilitate expression of feelings, to enhance positive behaviours, increase self-esteem, enhance self-awareness and improve self-regulation.

It can be a very effective way of helping to resolve conflicts that are hard to express verbally and reduce stress and anxiety by providing an outlet for feelings of frustration and confusion.

The use of visual communication can enable the development of social and cognitive skills, and help with facilitating thinking symbolically and metaphorically.

Other benefits of Art Therapy are helping with Sensory Processing Issues and improving the ability to recognise and respond to facial expressions. It can develop the understanding of how to positively develop relationships with others.

What are the benefits from having art therapy?

As an Art Therapist I have a duty of care to provide a secure safe space for you to feel able to express yourself verbally and non-verbally. Art is a powerful tool and when spoken words are too painful to say, art can become your voice. This enables you to develop self-confidence, build self-esteem and begin to learn how to self-regulate independently, whilst also becoming more self-aware. I am passionate about the process of making art. It isn’t about being “good at Art”, it is the process of making art that heals, not the end result.

How does it work?

I currently work both online and face to face with people all ages, ranging from children to young adolescents and adults. These sessions are delivered either on a one-to-one basis or in groups both indoors or outside.

I am aiming to expand on my practice, as there is more need in the world right now than there ever was before to find safe ways and places to deal with ever more stressful and complex lives.  The provision of a safe space that is readily and easily available and accessible can help massively with a client’s mental wellbeing and physical health. Building a person’s self-esteem, enhancing self-confidence and developing self-awareness can have a very positive effect on a client’s overall wellbeing
